TJU-KLE Leadership Meeting held in Philadelphia

Thomas Jefferson University (TJU) – KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER), Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) Leadership meeting was held with Dr Susan Aldridge, President, TJU, Dr. Said Ibrahim, Dean, Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Dr Richard Derman, Vice Provost, Global Affairs, TJU, Dr Prabhakar B Kore, Chancellor, KAHER and Chairman KLE Society along with JNMC Women’s and Children’s Health Research Unit Team members at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia on June 13, 2024. Ongoing academic and research collaboration activities were reviewed during the meeting and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed for the continuation of the collaboration.   

The collaboration between TJU and KLE-JNMC is ongoing since 2017 and the “India Centre for Studies” at Thomas Jefferson University was inaugurated at Philadelphia in May 2022. The Study Centre is fostering the academic and research collaboration between KAHER and Thomas Jefferson University. It is one among the four centers being set up by TJU, the other three being Italy, Ireland and Israel. The collaborative activities were initiated in the areas of Public Health, Urology and Integrative Medicine commenced in July 2017 and has been further expanded to include Neurology, Radiology, Neonatology, Psychiatry, Nursing and Physiotherapy. It involves faculty and student exchange in addition to the development of research grants. Following this 5 student exchange programs have been successfully completed with 32 students of JNMC visiting TJU. Six medical students from JNMC, Belagavi, India who are currently doing observership in Cardiology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Radiology, Urology and Public Health were also present during the meeting along with other faculty members of JNMC.
